The main purpose of Swedish massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles. Swedish massage shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes. It increases circulation without increasing heart load. It stretches the ligaments and tendons keeping them supple and pliable. Swedish Massage also stimulates the skin and nervous system and soothes the nerves themselves at the same time. It reduces stress, both emotional and physical, and is suggested in a regular program for stress management. It also has many specific medical uses. Swedish massage feels good, is relaxing and invigorating. It affects the nerves, muscles, glands, and circulation, while promoting health and well being.
Swedish Massage
Shiatsu massage is rooted in the five element theory of traditional Chinese medicine. "Shiatsu" literally means "finger pressure" and the treatment involves applying pressure to various points on the body. The theory involves energy channels through which Qi (energy) travels through the body. By treating blocked points, one can restore balance and flow of energy. Shiatsu stimulates circulation to the skin, improves muscular nutrition and improves nerve function. Shiatsu can also relieve stress, induce relaxation and be incredibly healing. A full-session Shiatsu massage is done on a floor mat with the client clothed. This makes it an excellent choice for someone new to massage or a client who may not feel comfortable removing their clothing. But I often incorporate Shiatsu throughout table sessions as well.

Stretching and Joint Mobilization
Our bodies are designed to move. But usually we find ourselves being sedentary whether it's in a car, at a desk, or on the couch at home. All of my massages include stretching to improve flexibility and range of motion as well as help prevent future injury. Throughout the massage, I will work with the client to promote deep, full breathing that oxygenates the blood and improves relaxation. I will teach you techniques to use during the massage as well as when you are at home or work.

Deep-Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage is a type of massage aimed at the deeper tissue structures of the muscle and fascia, also called connective tissue. Deep tissue massage uses many of the same movements and techniques as Swedish massage, but the pressure will generally be more intense, with the strokes being deeper and slower. It is also a more focused type of massage, as I work to release chronic muscle tension or knots. It shouldn't hurt, but it's likely to be a bit more uncomfortable than a classic Swedish massage. You should always feel free to speak up if the pressure is too much for you.
Sports Massage
Sports massage prevents injuries and loss of mobility, helps heal and restore mobility to injured muscle tissue, and boosts performance. Physically, sport massage flushes out toxins and waste products and helps oxygen and nutrients flow, helping tissues to recover more quickly. Sports massage is generally area specific and can vary based on the client’s needs regarding training and athletic activities.
